My bad - 'Smart Controller'. Thanks for that reply. I beg to differ but there is another USB port on my smart controller (USB-A, top right) and DJI Mavic is saying that one is for 'connecting external devices' and the USB-C port (bottom center) is for 'charging and updating the remote controller'. I did use the bottom port and got the drop down.
