After the download is finished you will need to partition the 256 GB on your Macbook Air. I only gave 10 GB for Windows 7 since I only use it to open Windows specific files such as.exe and stuff. If you are going to start using it more than your Mac OS X, I would probably give it at least 100 GB or more to use.
Is your Mac up to date with the latest version of the Mac operating system? Is it using the version required by some product that you want to use with your Mac? Which versions are earlier (older) or later (newer, more recent)? To find out, learn which version is installed now.

- The mid 2012 has a SSD. My mid 2012 air has 4 gigs of ram and is running the latest version OS well. The newer airs have improved battery life by using lower power chips, and some improvement in graphics capability, but otherwise the 2012 air is still an up to date machine. 4 gigs is enough for most users, unless you are running Windows within OSX.
